Bio

Marc Hervieux is one of the most sought-after Canadian vocalists, both nationally and internationally. A graduate of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal, and the Advanced Role Preparation Studio of the Florida Opera in Miami, he has studied with such prestigious voice teachers as Sylvia Saurette, Diana Soviero, Ermano Mauro, César Ulloa, and Gerald Martin Moore, and received numerous awards, such as the Opéra de Montréal’s Diana Soviero prize, and the Fondation Charles Émile-Gadbois, Gautier-Létourneau, and Fondation Jacqueline-Desmarais scholarships (the latter for three consecutive years).

Internationally, Marc Hervieux has sung, among many other roles, Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata at the Mariinski Theatre for the Kirov Opera, in Israel with the New Israel Philharmonic, at the New Jersey Opera Festival, and at the Opéra de Nice; the Chevalier Des Grieux in Massenet’s Manon at the Málaga Opera in Spain, and at the launching of the new season of Bastia Opera in Corsica; and Rodolfo in La Bohème at Metz, France. He has sung in the opera Starmania and its symphonic version, Starmania Symphonique, in Montreal (world premiers), Quebec City, Ottawa, Paris, and Seoul. Nationally, major Canadian opera houses have invited Marc Hervieux to sing, among other roles, Rodolfo in La Bohème, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, the Duke in Rigoletto, Hoffmann in Les contes d’Hoffmann, Mario in Tosca, Canio in I Pagliacci, Turiddu in Cavaleria Rusticana, the title role in Faust, Don José in Carmen, Romeo in Romeo et Juliette, the Chevalier Des Grieux in Manon, and Alfredo in La Traviata. Marc Hervieux has already sung under the direction of some of the most celebrated conductors, including Valery Gergev, Zubin Mehta, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Charles Dutoit.

Naturally drawn to a wide variety of musical styles, Marc has also collaborated on stage or in the studio with numerous artists from Quebec including Ginette Reno, Coral Egan, Sylvain Cossette, Yvon Deschamps, Isabelle Boulay, and Patsy Gallant.

In 2020, Marc launched his latest album Nostalgia in memory of his childhood memories and his first recipe book Bon vivant.
